Roofing Company in Pasadena, TX
Pasadena's houses are some of the oldest in our service area: the median home was built in 1977 and well over half predate 1980. A Pasadena re-roof is often the third or fourth roof on the house, and the work that matters most happens after the old layers come off and the crew can see the wood underneath.

How old are Pasadena's homes, and how many roofs have they had?
Old enough that most have been re-roofed several times. The Census Bureau's 2020-2024 survey counts 53,756 homes in Pasadena, the largest housing stock of any city we serve outside Houston:
- 1977median year built
- 56.7%built before 1980
- 6.8%built 2010 or later
- 54.5%owner-occupied
A house from the late 1950s or 1960s near the Ship Channel has seen roughly three asphalt roof lifetimes. Somewhere along the way, at least one of those roofs was usually laid over the one before. Very little new construction has gone up since 2010, so nearly every Pasadena roofing job is a replacement on an established house.
What do we find when the old layers come off a Pasadena roof?
The real condition of the house. Older Pasadena roofs often sit on board decking or on plywood that has been nailed through three times. Leaks from earlier roofs can leave soft spots that a second layer simply covered.
The estimate cannot see through the shingles, so we price the known work and carry a clear allowance for decking. You approve the sheets we replace from photos, and the final invoice matches what was actually installed.
Rafters matter too. On some older homes the framing has sagged under the weight of extra layers. We note sags from the attic before the job, and we tell you when one needs a carpenter rather than more shingles.
What roofing work do Pasadena owners ask us to price?
Most Pasadena roofing estimates fall into these groups.
Two- and three-layer tear-offs on 1950s to 1970s ranch homes
New sheathing over old board decking before the new roof
Re-roofs on rental houses, duplexes and small apartment buildings
Ridge exhaust and soffit intake added to unvented attics
Metal on detached garages, carports and workshops
Replacement after an approved hail or wind claim
Which Pasadena addresses fall inside the coastal windstorm area?
Only those east of State Highway 146. The Texas Department of Insurance's Harris County rules place the areas east of SH 146 inside the city limits of Pasadena, La Porte, Seabrook, Shoreacres and Morgan's Point within the designated catastrophe area. The rest of Pasadena, including most of its neighborhoods, is outside the designated catastrophe area.
On the east side, a re-roof that should keep TWIA eligibility needs a TDI-appointed inspector or engineer, an application filed before work starts, and the WPI-8 certificate at the end. The inspector confirms the current wind requirement for the address. On the west side, no state windstorm inspection applies, but we still fasten the edges and the starter course for high wind, because Gulf storms do not stop at a highway.

Pasadena roofing questions
My Pasadena house has two layers of shingles. Can you roof over them?
We do not. Two layers already add weight to framing that was sized in the 1950s or 1960s, and a third layer would hide whatever the first two are covering. Both layers come off, the decking is inspected and repaired, and the new roof is nailed into solid wood. The tear-off is its own line on the estimate.
What is board decking, and does my Pasadena home have it?
Many homes built before the 1970s were sheathed with rows of individual boards rather than plywood sheets. Boards can have gaps, splits and old nail holes that do not hold new nails well. If we find board decking, we price overlaying it with new sheathing so the new shingles have a solid, continuous base.
Is Pasadena in the TDI windstorm area?
Only part of it. TDI includes the areas of Pasadena east of State Highway 146 in its designated catastrophe area. Most of the city lies west of the highway and outside the designated catastrophe area. We confirm which side your address falls on before planning the inspection steps.
Do you replace roofs on rental houses in Pasadena?
Yes. Close to half of Pasadena's homes are renter-occupied, at 45.5 percent, and many owners manage several properties. We give a written scope and start date you can share with tenants, photograph the decking we replace, and send the photos to you even if you are not on site.
Should I add ventilation when I replace my Pasadena roof?
On most older homes, yes. Houses from the 1960s and 1970s often have little or no soffit intake and a few small roof vents. Replacing the roof is the right time to add ridge exhaust and open the soffits, which helps the new shingles last and keeps the attic cooler.
Get the new roof planned before the old one comes off
We measure every slope, check the decking and the attic ventilation, and write the estimate before a single shingle is torn off.
Ready to find out what a new roof will take?
The roof measurement is free. We check the decking, count the layers, measure every slope and write the material, underlayment and flashing line by line.
